PETE ROCK & CL SMOOTH
"THE MAIN INGREDIENT"

The Main Ingredient picks up right where Mecca And The Soul Brother left off, continuing classic back to back releases from the duo. Characterized by sultry soul and jazz samples, The Main Ingredient saw a more polished sound from Pete & CL, building on the praise they got from All Souled Out & Mecca And The Soul Brother.
Right off the bat "In The House" sets off the album with Pete's trademark hypnotic drums (with a little help from a Q Tip vocal sample) and CL's elegant delivery. Yes elegant. The Main Ingredient is full of countless hits; "Caramel City", "I Get Physical", "Get On The Mic", "Worldwide" and the singles "I Got A Love", "Take You There" and "Searching" all show that the duo is unstoppable together. As Pete puts it "We were in a zone, and when you're in a zone, it's fun. It was a great time, and we put the album together with just that in mind. It was like a family thing, and music was a hobby, not a job. We kept it like we were in the basement, creating music just for the fun of it".

James Brown LIVE AT THE APOLLO VOL. IV +@slumvillage & @FrankieCutlass BORIQUAS ON THE SET ft @djdoowop @fatjoe & Ray Boogie via @GetOnDownTweets

LIVE AT THE APOLLO VOL. IV

From 1963 to 1971, James Brown had released not one but three albums recorded live at Harlem's famed Apollo Theater. The first volume of the series is still rightfully revered today as one of the greatest live albums of all time.
Because of this, it will always be a mystery as to why Volume IV, which was recorded at the Apollo on September 14, 1972, was shelved. But shelved it was, full of fire but languishing for decades in the Polydor vaults.
One look at the tracklist will make you salivate: from instrumental JBs classics like "Pass the Peas," "Gimme Some More" and "Hot Pants Road" to James' own 1972 smash vocal "There It Is," the assembled group of musical geniuses - including trombonist and bandleader Fred Wesley; saxophonist St. Clair Pinckney; guitarists Hearlon "Cheese" Martin and Jimmy "Chank" Nolan; bassist Fred Thomas; and Brown himself on organ - smash through James' New New Super Heavy Funk with ridiculous power, control and panache.

SLUM VILLAGE "THE FANTASTIC BOX: A JAY-DEE PRODUCTION (4CD + 5 SEVEN INCH RECORDS"

This new and exhaustive collection - comprising four CDs and five 7-inch records from the group's Dilla-helmed era - is the perfect way for longtime fans to celebrate Dilla's work with his first musical family, as well as for newcomers to enter the expansive musical world he created in the 1990s.

As Slum Village, the group, with Dilla as chief producer and sometime MC, put out two full-lengths under the SV name: Fan-Tas-Tic Vol. 1 (recorded in 1996 and 1997) and Fan-Tas-Tic Vol. 2 (from 2000). Both are included here in full, with original album vocal tracks, bonus mixes and remixes, and selected instrumentals on a third CD.

CD #4 is a beyond-the-albums journey through rare bonus cuts (with selected tracks from the J-88 Best Kept Secret album, with the same trio lineup): 11 songs, including the remix to "Hold Tight"; two Madlib collabs ("Things You Do" and "Get It Together"); and the Pete Rock remix of "Once Upon A Time" (the original was also produced by Pete and is found on CD #2.)

This multi-layered musical cake is iced by a separate vinyl companion, containing five 7-inches (two singles off Vol. 2 - "Raise It Up" and "I Don't Know" - plus three singles just for this set, each on its own color of premium vinyl: "Fall In Love," "Fall In Love Remix" and "Players"), and a liner notes book with rare photos and images. The text is by journalist Martin Caballero, with extensive input from the group's only surviving member, T3.

The 7-inch labels in this collection are inspired by the original "Raise It Up" and "I Don't Know" 12-inch releases, which were designed to look like test pressings. The set itself is housed in a deluxe flip-top 7" box.

FRANKIE CUTLASS "PUERTO RICO" / "BORIQUAS ON THE SET" FEAT. FATJOE & RAY BOOGIE
Available for the first time on 7", All City Records bring you Frankie Cutlass' 90's anthem "Puerto Rico" b/w "Boriquas On The Set" featuring Doo Wop, Fat Joe & Ray Boogie.

"Puerto Rico" is easily one of the most recognized party records from the 90's which still getsburn to this day. On the flip Frankie Cutlass pushes his production talents for the street banger "Boriquas On The Set" featuring Fat Joe, mixtape legend Doo Wop and Ray Boogie. This is a must have!
